Midland Daily News - Thanksgiving food baskets handed out to over 400 families To the editor: The annual Thanksgiving Food Baskets program is coordinated by Dean and Elaine Tobey and is a partnership of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, the Midland County Emergency Food Pantry Network and the Department of Health and Human Services. The purpose of the program is to provide ingredients for a Thanksgiving meal as well as cereal and other staples, personal care items and cleaning supplies. Many donations and volunteer workers are needed for this program to be the success it has been for many years. Community donations were received from 16 churches, 10 medical offices, five grocery stores, Hidden Harvest, five schools, Dow National Honor Society, two local businesses and several individuals. About 200 volunteers sorted the food and other items delivered to Aldersgate United Methodist Church and then packed 630 grocery bags and over 457 personal care bags for distribution to over 400 families (about
