SFGate - SAN JOSE (BCN) A bicyclist killed in a car crash on Monday in San Jose has been identified as 50-year-old Johnny Chu of San Jose, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office. He and another bicyclist were hit by a woman exiting a parking lot in a gray Chevrolet SUV at 7:43 a.m. in the area of Vistapark Drive at Capitol Expressway in South San Jose. Both victims were transported to the hospital and Chu died shortly after. The other bicyclist sustained life-threatening injuries, according to police. The fatal crash is the 26th this year. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, and is not suspected to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police said.

India Times - Relatives denied hearse van to carry man's body in Odisha's Kalahandi. Relatives of a man carried his body on a sling made of clothes in Odisha's Kalahandi. He died during medical treatment at a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO). The incident took place in Gunupur village of Kalahandi district. They carried his body on a sling made of clothes, after they were allegedly not given a hearse van. While speaking to ANI, one of the relatives said, 'We asked for a van but medical officers told us they don't run van on Mondays.' Meanwhile, the Medical Officer of Thuamul Rampur Government Hospital said, 'A private organisation, had taken in the patient at 9:00 am but he died by 1:45 pm. They searched for a vehicle to carry body back to their village but didn't get one. In our hospital, we have a hearse van for Junagarh, Kalampur and Thuamul Rampur areas.'
