Connecticut Post Bridgeport - BOSTON (AP) - Two guards at a federal prison in Massachusetts have pleaded not guilty to charges in connection to what authorities called an assault on a "vulnerable inmate." Seth Bourget, 39, of Woodstock, Connecticut, was arraigned Thursday in federal court in Boston on deprivation of rights charges. Bourget kneed an inmate in the head while the inmate was handcuffed and restrained in a mental health housing unit at the Federal Medical Center in Devens last June, prosecutors said. He later struck the inmate with a protective shield, causing additional injuries, according to authorities. Joseph Lavorato, 51, of Wilmington, is charged with obstruction for allegedly failing to report the full extent of the inmate's injuries and destroying a video recording of the incident. Bourget's attorney, Michael Sheridan, told the Boston Herald his client's side of the story will be heard during the legal process. Lavorato's attorney did not address the specifics of the case, but said in

SFGate San Francisco - SAN JOSE (BCN) Police on Thursday took a second suspect into custody in connection with a homicide that occurred in January in San Jose. Marcus Sloan Pardohendry, 33, of San Jose, was taken into custody Thursday at around 3:08 a.m., according to the San Jose Police Department. Richard Alexis Torres, 28, of San Jose, was previously arrested Tuesday on suspicion of murder, police said. On January 15 at 10:19 p.m., officers responded to a person shot at Clayton Road and Squeri Drive and located San Jose resident Richard Huy Nguyen, 26, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Nguyen was pronounced deceased at the scene. On Tuesday, police located Torres in Santa Clara. Police said Torres did not comply with officers' commands, and a San Jose police K9 was used to take the suspect into custody. Coroner identifies 2 people killed in Byron Circle shooting, including pregnant woman

- BELTON, S. C. (FOX Carolina) - Friday morning, Anderson County Coroner Don McCown confirmed a woman who was shot on Byron Circle in Belton has now died from her injuries. The sheriff's office tells us the victim was pregnant at the time of her death.  We're told the baby did not survive. On Thursday night, the coroner's office confirmed another death in the same shooting.  Both victims have now been identified by the coroner.  33-year-old Tamell Nash and 21-year-old Sabrina Lowery who the coroner says was 37 weeks pregnant at the time of her death. The coroner says both Nash and Lowery sustained gunshot wounds.  We're told Nash was found dead at the scene on Byron Circle.
