Agitation over National Medical Commission (NMC) bill 2019 has continued at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER). The protesting doctors are demanding amendments to the NMC bill 2019. OPDs and planned surgeries remained disrupted, while emergency and ICUs were functional on August 3. The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) walked out of the OPDs and left the institute. Dr Uttam Thakur, president ARD, PGI said, 'We understand that the patients are facing inconvenience. However, other government hospitals are operational. It is a pan India strike against the NMC bill which has five main issues with which we are not satisfied and urge the government to reconsider them before making it an act.'

Midland Daily News - A final pretrial hearing is set for a 50-year-old Gladwin man accused of two felony counts of operating under the influence causing injury with a .19 blood alcohol level. Faber's final pretrial hearing is set for 9 a.m. Oct. 1. The Tea Party enthusiast who ran for Gladwin County Commissioner in 2014, reportedly injured two people in Beaverton Township in a two-vehicle crash on March 2. Faber was arrested following the crash and released on a $15,000 personal recognizance bond. The crash occurred at about 7:15 p.m. at South Bard and Lyle roads. A 56-year-old Beaverton man, who was driving a 1998 Oldsmobile and his 58-year-old passenger were injured in the crash. Both were taken to MidMichigan Medical Center - Midland. Brian Langley suffered a leg injury and his passenger Susan Langley sustained minor injuries. Both were reportedly later released.
