Houston Chronicle - CONCORD, N.H. (AP) ? The New Hampshire Senate is getting its turn to try to overturn some of the more than 50 vetoes issued by Republican Gov. Chris Sununu this session. On Wednesday, the House took up two dozen bills but only managed to override the governor's veto on one of them, a measure to allow medical marijuana patients to grow their own supply. Senators will take up that bill Thursday, along with 28 other vetoed bills that originated in their chamber. The list includes bills to create a paid family medical leave program and raise the state's minimum wage, and several other measures related to labor and employment law. Overrides are unlikely, given that Democrats hold only a 14-10 majority in the Senate, below the two-thirds needed to override a veto.

The Latest: No fetal remains found at closed abortion clinic
AP - JOLIET, Ill. (AP) - The Latest on investigations that followed the discovery of fetal remains at the Illinois home of a former Indiana abortion (all times local):: 12:01 p.m. A northern Indiana prosecutor says authorities found no fetal remains during a search of a shuttered South Bend abortion clinic once operated by a late abortion doctor whose Illinois property was found to contain more than 2,200 medically preserved fetal remains. St. Joseph County Prosecutor Ken Cotter says police, prosecutors and members of the Indiana attorney general's office served a search warrant Thursday morning at the former South Bend abortion clinic where Dr. Ulrich Klopfer had performed abortions. Cotter said during a news conference outside the building that boxes of medical records were found inside, but that "based on what we have seen so far there are no fetal remains here." He says a vacant lot was also searched in the northern Indiana city. Cotter says the investigation at those properti

Senate overrides veto on medical marijuana prescribing bill
Houston Chronicle - CONCORD, N.H. (AP) ? A bill to allow medical marijuana patients to get prescriptions even if they haven't had the same doctor for three months has a good chance of becoming law in New Hampshire. Republican Gov. Chris Sununu vetoed the bill last month, but the Senate voted 17-7 Thursday to override his veto, achieving the necessary two-thirds majority to send the bill back to the House. Lawmakers in that chamber are expected to go along, given that the bill had wide support there. In his veto message, Sununu said current law allows patients to obtain appropriate treatment while preserving responsible prescribing. But senators who support the bill argued that it was unfair to make patients wait three months when no such rules apply to far more dangerous drugs, including opioids.

Hospital cuts 25 workers, cites drop in patients, revenue
Houston Chronicle - FAIRMONT, W.Va. (AP) ? A West Virginia hospital announced that it is laying off 25 employees due to a reduction in patients and revenue. News outlets report Fairmont Regional Medical Center made the announcement Wednesday in a statement. Alecto Healthcare Services, the hospital's parent company, says the changes aim to make the hospital more efficient so it can "provide excellent patient care for years to come." The statement says the company has no plans to close the facility, though it decided to close two other hospitals recently in West Virginia and Ohio. Officials says the Fairmont hospital does not face the same "unique challenges" as those that were closed. Administrators will continue to seek ways to "enhance quality care while improving financial performance."

A New Way Of Paying For Maternity Care Aims To Reduce C-Sections
NPR - The thrill of delivering newborns helped pull Dr. Jack Feltz into the field of obstetrics and gynecology. More than 30 years later, he still enjoys treating patients, he says. But now Feltz is also working to change the way doctors are paid for maternity care. Feltz's New Jersey-based practice, Lifeline Medical Associates, recently partnered with the insurer UnitedHealthcare to test a new payment model. The insurer sets a budget with the practice to pay doctors one lump sum for prenatal services, delivery and 60 days of care afterward. If the costs come in below that amount, the medical practice gets to keep some of the savings. (Hospitals aren't a part of this contract; the insurer pays them separately for their services.) "We've always been taught to take care of patients as if they were our mothers and our daughters," says Feltz, who also leads a coalition of obstetricians called the U.S. Women's Health Alliance that advocates for high-quality, affordable care. "But now we have t
