Midland Daily News - Versiti Blood Center of Michigan is issuing an emergency appeal for blood donations. Donor center hours have been extended and staff has been added throughout the state to better accommodate donors who can donate life-saving blood today or in the days ahead. Donation appointments that are currently scheduled are not enough to ensure that Versiti Blood Center of Michigan can supply its hospital partners at the necessary levels in the coming days and weeks. Versiti is the exclusive blood and blood products supplier to nearly 80 Michigan hospitals. "Hospitals throughout Michigan depend on us on a daily basis to collect and provide blood and blood products for their patients undergoing surgery, fighting disease and recovering from trauma," said Dr. LeeAnn Weitekamp, senior medical director at Versiti Blood Center of Michigan.
