So says the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine. Almost 12,000 malpractice claims were examined in a paper published in the journal Diagnosis and titled "Serious misdiagnosis-related harms in malpractice claims: The 'Big Three' ? vascular events, infections, and cancers." A 54-year-old man in the South Mills area died of an apparent drug overdose earlier this month, according to the Camden County Sheriff's Office.The Sheriff's Office and Pasquotank-Camden Emergency Medical Services were called to the home on Nosay Road around 8 a.m. on July 6 and found the man suffering from an apparent drug overdose, according to Camden Sheriff Kevin Jones.EMS arrived first and was seeking to revive the man when deputies arrived, Jones said. The man's time of death was listed by EMS as 8:39 a.m., he said.The suspected cause of death was a drug overdose but the body was taken to Greenville for an autopsy, Jones said.

Comprehensive Pain and Headache Treatment Centers, LLC and its owner, Dr. Mark Thimineur, have entered into a civil settlement agreement with the federal and state governments to resolve allegations that they improperly billed the Medicare and Connecticut Medicaid programs. The allegations against CPHTC, which is an interventional pain management medical practice with offices in Derby and Meriden, arose from improper billing of urine drug tests.
