Biddeford Journal Tribune - NORTH WATERBORO ? The death of a Waterboro couple is being investigated as a domestic violence murder suicide. Maine Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said the bodies of Christal and Christopher Denis, both 45, were found in their home at 620 New Dam Road just before 8 p.m Saturday by York County Sheriff's Office deputies, who had been called to the house by relatives of the couple. "(Maine State Police) Detectives said Denis shot his wife with a shotgun and then turned the gun on himself," said McCausland in a statement issued at 7:45 a.m. Sunday. "The two bodies were found in the living room of the house. " Detectives, deputies and evidence technicians worked into the early morning hours gathering evidence and conducting interviews. Autopsies were to be conducted Sunday at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta. No additional information was available. ? A local man whom police say brandished a weapon and then pointed one at them when they went to check on his well-being Saturday was evaluated at a Sanford medical facility and then taken to York County Jail. Jerry Aberle of Buxton, 68, is charged with criminal threatening with a firearm, a Class C felony; Class D misdemeanor failure to submit to arrest or detention and refusing to sign a summons or complaint, a Class E misdemeanor. In a statement released Saturday night, Buxton police said they had responded to Aberle's residence about 10:45 a.m. in response to reports that he had threatened to harm himself. "Officers Warren Day and Hunter Smith arrived at the residence and cautiously approached as Aberle is known to possess multiple firearms," policed said in the statement. "Officer Day heard Aberle through an open window and called out to him. Aberle engaged the officers in a brief conversation and Officer Day asked if he had access to any of his firearms. AP - MANCHESTER, Maine (AP) - The Maine Medical Association has named an attorney as its new leader. Interim CEO Andrew Maclean is set to take the helm as CEO starting Aug. 1. The previous CEO Gordon Smith now directs statewide opioid response efforts for Democratic Gov. Janet Mills. Past president Charles Pattavina says Maclean's background of nearly 30 years in health care, law and politics will benefit physicians in the state. Marcil previously worked for MMH as a registered CT and MRI technologist for 14 years.
